The first Annual Pilot Mountain Bowed Dulcimer Festival
was a roaring success! We had 17 people registered for
the workshops and many spouses/friends also came along!!
We started out on Friday night with an open house and an
open stage with workshops on Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday night featured a concert with Ken, Janet and
Jeff Furman. I'll update this webpage with more
information as details are worked at.
For now, we have received the following information from
Cammie of Sawbrier: "Hi Ken- we have Confirmation
with Best Western Hotel Weekend of March 31st for the
Bowed Dulcimer Festival. We have the "picking room"
reserved and we have 20 rooms on hold. If more are
needed, please let me know. Room rates are same as last
year: Regular room $59.00 / night with continental
breakfast the following morning; Suite room is $79.00 /
night with continental breakfast the following morning.
We are available to host the 2nd Annual Bowed Dulcimer
Festival in 2006. Yeah! I will check with the caterer
about pricing for the lunches. I'll confirm that with
the caterer and have her put it on her calendar. If
there's something I've forgotten, please just zap me an
email back. Hope that all is well your way. Thank you
for your continued friendship and support! Sincerely,
Cammie
The
cost for the festival will be $100.00 per person to
cover the expenses of lunch on Saturday, the building,
sound system etc. The price will include all the

Cammie Collier for all their help!
===========================================================
From about 8:00-10:00 PM Friday Ken will introduce the
bowed dulcimer followed by an open stage/open house
format where anyone who wants to can get up and play and
also to have a time when people who live close by can
come by and see the instruments and talk to the
participants. We are arranging for some jam rooms at
the hotel. (See below) Please feel free to bring “other”
instruments to jam (participants and non-participants).
Ken says “We'll be doing more in the way of actually
playing through songs this time and I will be devoting a
lot more time to the subject of jamming and doing some
exercises with everyone on how to do it, regardless of
your playing level. Those who can, play the tune. Those
who can't or don't want to, here are some alternatives.
That sort of thing.”
Saturday,
9:00-12:00, workshop. 12:00-1:00, lunch. 1:00-5:00 more
workshop. Dinner break. Saturday evening will feature a
concert by Ken, Jeff, and Janet. Jamming afterwards back
at the hotel.
Sunday,
9:00-12:00, more workshop and done. Ken wants to get in
the maximum amount of techniques, practice, theory etc.
so that people will come away from this workshop with
plenty to work on and hopefully enough encouragement to
keep on.
The
cost is going to have to be around $100.00 per person to
cover the expenses of lunch on Saturday, the building,
sound system etc. The price will include all the
handouts and maybe even (by then) a book, the concert
and participation in the jamming sessions.
